So, you were interested in knowing a little about me…well, I was born & raised in Baltimore, Maryland, with two older brothers and one younger sister.  I married an awesome guy from Davenport, Iowa and we have been blessed with two gorgeous children.

I graduated from Loyola College with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. While at Loyola, I fell in love with television, and began my career both modeling and competing in the “Miss America” pageant system.   I was crowned “Miss Baltimore’s Best” in the late 80’s.

After graduation I decided to pursue my dream, and moved to California. There, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to appear in numerous commercials, movies and television shows. After returning to Maryland, I went on to run two highly successful television stations. I have always loved to write, and especially enjoy the creative process of turning “the average” into something awesome!

“Maya Talk” is the fulfillment of my dream. I really wanted to create a talk show, but I wanted to do it “my way.”  I base each show on content that I find interesting, important, or just fun. My goal is simply to make people smile, and if you happen to take away a little bit more than you started with….then that’s a bonus!!!!

Thank you for watching, and as my late mother would say…..”Keep thinking the good thoughts!”

Maya Talk Overview

“Maya Talk” is a 30-minute television talk show that wants to expand the current talk show genre. Besides providing viewers with interesting guests, informational segments, and fun demonstrations, “Maya Talk” wants to provide segments that will expand their minds, bodies, and spirits. To that end, there will be local and national guests participating in much-needed dialogue, that calls attention to, and in some cases, offers solutions to topics of interest.

“Maya Talk” aired for the first two seasons on Sunday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. on Western Maryland’s NBC affiliate, NBC25 in Hagerstown. Since the show’s debut on Sunday, November 5th, 2006, “Maya Talk” has very quickly become a community hit, having the support of local businesses and organizations alike.

The show’s second season marked the beginning of “Maya Talk’s” partnership with The Frederick Arts Council in Maryland. This partnership provided a home for the “Maya Talk” studio, on its own custom-designed set. Additionally, the season two guest list expanded beyond “local” interview segments, to include such nationally recognized guests such as former NAACP President & CEO, Kweisi Mfume.

During season two, Maya Talk, LLC, a division of BS Environmental, Inc. (BSE) was formed. BSE has provided Maya Talk, LLC with many opportunities, including its 8a, MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) designation.

Looking forward to the new season, the “Maya Talk” show continues to grow and evolve as it welcomes new segments, sponsors, and industry professionals. “Maya Talk” has brought on Donna M. Owens, an award-winning journalist, as the show’s Producer. Ms. Owens brings a wealth of experience in commercial and public broadcasting, as well as an extensive portfolio of high-profile contacts nationwide, not to mention an abundance of creativity.

As “Maya Talk” continues to evolve, our viewers and online audience can count on the show to provide quality programming that combines the best of local and national information, and entertainment. We look forward to our viewers sharing an exciting journey with us that is just beginning!
